Ashleigh Green & Jason Chan

In Between
Artist Statement: In Between is the result of a collaborative analogue experiment. Using a single roll of film, Chan and Green photographed their home cities – Hong Kong and Kelowna – in a series of double exposure images. Neither artist planned for a specific result nor had any idea what might happen.
From this unknown emerged a new reality: a place in between.
By combining two different perspectives and places, In Between explores the dual nature of reality where the familiar and foreign mix.

Ashleigh Green is a Kelowna-based graphic artist. She holds a BFA from UBC and attended the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland, the School of Visual Art in NYC, and HEIMA Art Residency in Iceland. You’ll find her in her tiny studio making drawings and animations next to her sleeping cat.

Jason Chan – Nobody cares if I got my BFA from University of British Columbia. If you see me on the streets you probably won’t recognize me. If you do recognize me then it means I made it. Until then I’m going to work on my own projects in my basement.
