syilx Spotlight: Plants in Practice

Experience the syilx Spotlight at the Okanagan Heritage Museum. Join Alana, our Indigenous Programming Intern, on Sunday afternoons for a fascinating, hands-on look at syilx (Okanagan) culture and traditions. Get an up-close look at objects from our collection and take part in a hands-on activity or experience!

Suitable for all ages.

APRIL 10, 24, MAY 1: Plants in Practice

Learn about traditional syilx uses for plants, including as food, medicine, baskets and shelter. See and smell a selection of local Indigenous plants. This is a family-friendly, hands-on experience and guests will use a mortar and pestle to create a potpourri bundle to take home!
