Meet Marshall, one of our Programming Associates! Meet Marshall, one of our Programming Associates!
Marshall helps bring local history to life! He uses various interpretive methods to engage school groups, families, and diverse audiences, making history accessible and exciting for everyone. Marshall also helps run military-themed programs and events at the Okanagan Military Museum.

“As an educator I strive to give our guests, particularly students, their ‘AHA! Moment,’ and watching their expression change as everything they’ve learned (or unlearned) starts to click into place. Once they ask a question that requires critical thinking, I know I’ve done my job right.”

Marshall has gained a lot of new knowledge since joining KMS, including from grade schoolers. “I’m all for sharing information, but one time I did have to put the kibosh on a kid who excitedly shared with me a recipe for explosive black powder before he could spread the word to his class. In retrospect, he may have been talking about Minecraft.”

@BC_HERN is a network of art, culture and heritage professionals and volunteers in BC who, after completing the salvage training workshop, are equipped to respond to localized emergency situations that impact the collections held at cultural institutions. Megan, Ryan, Elizabeth and Allison are now better equipped to care for our collections in the event of an emergency, but we are also able to support other organizations in the province if our help is required.
