Meet Nancy, our Bookkeeper!

Ever wonder who keeps things running smoothly at KMS, making sure everyone gets paid, and the financials are in order? That's Nancy! You might not always see her, but she's the one making it all happen.

What does Nancy like best about her role? “The people, of course! I also love keeping everything organized and balanced, so the reports can go out on time.”

Fun fact: this isn't Nancy's first time with us! She worked at KMS in the 1980s, as you can see from her ‘museum trainee’ photo, taken from the July 11, 1986, Daily Courrier. “At that time, I wore many hats, worked in conservation, helped with displays and education programs, and even started collecting local artifacts for the Orchard and Wine Museum before it was open to the public. It’s with much amazement and gratitude that I can fill yet another role and come full circle.”

Visit your museum in French! Join us for a guided tour in French as we dive into the history and culture of the valley at the Okanagan Heritage Museum. Topics include early settlers, the resurgence of local francophonie and the region’s incredible biodiversity.

Calling all cowboy lovers! Enjoy an evening at the

During the 1913 Kelowna Fall Fair, "cowboy sports"

During the 1913 Kelowna Fall Fair, "cowboy sports" were a popular attraction held over two days. This belt, along with a $75 prize, was presented by F.R.E. DeHart to Ferdie Brent, who secured first place as a bronco rider. Interestingly, the belt is engraved "Fred" due to a mistake.

According to the Orchard City Record's account of the event, "some of the horses fought most violently, and those who kept their seats triumphantly through the ordeal deserved all the applause they got."
