Raise a glass with us to honour women in wine and celebrate their contributions to the industry!

Sandy Leier, a Kelowna native, developed a deep appreciation for the land from an early age, inspired by the Okanagan Valley’s rich agricultural landscape. This passion led her to a winemaking career, spanning 18 years and encompassing international experience across diverse wine regions. Drawn to Laughing Stock Vineyards’ premium sites and small-batch approach, she assumed the role of Winemaker in July 2022. Sandy has since explored innovative winemaking techniques, including the use of amphora and concrete eggs, collaborating closely with Assistant Winemaker Kaitlyn Berendt.

Keira LeFranc, Keira grew up in the Okanagan and actually got her start in the wine industry in the Stag’s Hollow tasting room as her summer job in 2012. Showing a keen interest in the cellar side of things, after completing a science degree, she jumped at the opportunity to join our vintage team on the crush pad in 2013, which further solidified her passion for the industry. Following that first harvest, Keira spent 2 years training and working as a Sommelier in Australia, completing her WSET 3 and CMS Certified Sommelier. Missing getting her hands dirty in the cellar, she returned to the Okanagan to join our vintage crew again in 2015, before returning to the Southern Hemisphere to complete a Postgraduate Diploma of Wine Science in New Zealand, and an overseas harvest. She made her final move back to the Okanagan shortly thereafter and joined the Stag’s Hollow team permanently. In July 2018, she assumed the role of Winemaker, marking a pivotal moment in her career, and under her guidance, Stag’s Hollow has flourished, producing a portfolio of acclaimed wines that showcase the unique terroir of the region.

Nadine Kinvig, a seasoned and respected winemaker, celebrates her 20th vintage in British Columbia this year. Her six-year tenure at Terravista Vineyards has resulted in award-winning wines and critical acclaim. Kinvig’s passion for wine began in her youth, leading her to pursue formal education in viticulture and oenology at Lincoln University in New Zealand, following early experience at Okanagan wineries. Her career includes roles at prominent wineries such as Sumac Ridge, Laughing Stock, Foxtrot, Poplar Grove, and TIME Winery. Kinvig’s terroir-driven and innovative approach defines her winemaking style. A dedicated professional, she balances vineyard management and winemaking with raising a family, consistently producing bold and beautiful wines that have earned her significant recognition over two decades.
