Help preserve Kelowna’s historical grave markers

Only one week left to come down to the Okanagan He

Only one week left to come down to the Okanagan Heritage Museum to make a peace crane in tribute to Sadako’s mission. Our mission is to fold as many peace cranes possible as a symbol of hope, resilience, and peace. At the end of May, we will be mailing our peace cranes to the Children Peace Monument in Hiroshima.

Help us meet our goal of 100 cranes! While you’re here, don’t forget to check out the Broken Promises exhibition.

Kelowna’s second annual Queer Zine Fair, hosted

Kelowna’s second annual Queer Zine Fair, hosted by Kelowna Museums and the University of British Columbia Okanagan Library at the beautiful Laurel Packinghouse on June 5th, 6:00 – 8:00 PM!

The queer zine fair will showcase and celebrate zines created by 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals or focusing on 2SLGBTQIA+ themes. Queer artists, writers, and creatives can sign up for free to sell, trade, or give away their zines.

Zines have been a powerful underground and DIY force of expression and cultural movement in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community since the ‘70s. Newbies are invited to come learn more!

At 8:15 PM, the fair will be followed by an open mic where attendees or exhibitors will be invited to further share their creativity. Sign up at the event to share spoken word, music, comedy, or read passages from your zines aloud.
