Experience the Legacy of Vimy Ridge & Juno Beach
The Juno Beach Centre, Canada’s only museum and education centre on the D-Day landing Beaches, has developed a bilingual commemorative and educational program called From Vimy to Juno: Canada in France 1914-1945. This national initiative explores the experiences of Canadians during the First and the Second World Wars through a travelling exhibition and an educational website. Created with support from the Department of Canadian Heritage, From Vimy to Juno brings the legacy of these two nation-defining moments to Canadians from coast-to-coast.
Beginning in 1914, the British Empire declared war and 30,000 Canadian volunteers congregated to fight for King and country. This pivotal moment changed the course of the next forty years for Canadians – soldiers and citizens. Numerous battles led to thousands of lives lost and in 1929 the era of the worldwide Great Depression was triggered. Finally Victory came in 1945 at a cost of 47,000 Canadian lives.

From Vimy to Juno will be on display at the Okanagan Military Museum from January 26 to February 13, 2017.
