The gun has been under refurbishment since November and will be placed in a newly-created monument in front of the Okanagan Military Museum. The gun is a historic artefact that has stood in Kelowna since the 1920s. It was built in 1907, served with the German Army throughout the First World War until captured by Canadians in September 1918, and was shipped back to Canada as a trophy.
The many people who donated funds, materials, time and effort to complete the project will be acknowledged at this simple ceremony. Dress for the event will be Blazers with medals. Refreshments will be provided after the ceremony.
Kindly RSVP to Teresa Boehmer at: (250) 763-9292 ext. #24 or ommsociety@yahoo.ca
