Location: Okanagan Heritage Museum – Ursula Surtess Conservation Lab
Time: 1st session – 2pm-4pm / 2nd session – 6pm-8pm
Preserve and protect your family history! Did you know you can easily use museum techniques to preserve your photographs or other paper materials?
In this workshop you will learn how to encapsulate paper documents. This is a technique commonly used in museums and archives as an inexpensive, easy, and reversible method of preserving archival items. The pockets are custom made from polyester film (Mylar), and are used for a wide variety of flat archival materials: paper documents, fine art prints, photographs, etc. Preservation pockets add support to the item and protect them from over handling, environmental pollutants, and pests.
Bring your photos, documents, artwork or any other items you would like to preserve and get hands on instruction during this fun and informative workshop!
Workshops will take place in the Ursula Surtess Conservation lab, a state-of-the-art Conservation Laboratory which is located on the ground floor of the Okanagan Heritage Museum.
A small fee will be charged for supplies: 10$/person
