A series of four workshops has been developed to help improve professional knowledge, skills and practice in the area of conservation. These informative, two-day workshops will take place at the Ursula Surtees Regional Conservation Laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility located at the Okanagan Heritage Museum. The series is designed to help museum professionals gain new conservation and treatment techniques as well as refresh or upgrade their existing skills and knowledge.
This is the second workshop in the series which will cover textile conservation and preservation.
Rebecca Pavitt, an established Textile Conservator with Fine Art Conservation, will be leading the workshop. Participants will experience a mixture of theory and hands-on treatment practice.
The workshop will cover techniques for working with historic textiles and costumes:
– Preventative conservation
– Storage
– Care and handling
– Cleaning
– Basic repairs
